Independence

Nobody pays to appear on Fold & Futon. There are no sponsored placements, no paid inclusions, no “featured brand” slots, and no brand has approval, sight or veto over anything on this site before it publishes.

Affiliate relationships do not influence ranking order. We earn a commission on some outbound links, which is set out in the affiliate disclosure. If a product that earns us nothing is the better buy, it is the pick — and several of the merchants in our configuration are deliberately marked as non-earning reference links.

We have not received free products. Nothing on this site was supplied by a manufacturer. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on the page in question rather than buried here.

How products enter a roundup

A product qualifies if it is real, currently sold, and its manufacturer or retailer publishes enough specification data to fill the standing spec block — or if the gaps can be honestly marked as unstated. Ranking then follows the method on how we choose what to recommend: fit first, comfort second, value third, documentation fourth.

Products are not included because a brand asked, because a program pays well, or because a list needed padding to reach a round number of picks. Where a genuinely relevant option is missing, the reason is usually that we could not verify its specifications — and in that case we would rather run a shorter list than a longer one.

How products leave

Three ways. It stops being sold — every linked product is checked monthly, and a dead link is removed rather than left to rot. Its specifications change and it no longer earns its place. Or something better arrives and displaces it.

When a product is removed from a roundup the page is re-dated. We do not quietly swap picks and leave the original date in place.

Corrections

A site whose whole claim is accurate numbers has to be correctable, so this is a commitment rather than a courtesy.

Email contact@foldandfuton.com or use the contact form, with the page and the figure. We will check it against the manufacturer’s current listing. If it is wrong we fix it and re-date the page. If it is right we will tell you where the figure came from — which is in every spec block anyway.

Substantive corrections are made to the page directly and the update date changes. We do not keep a separate corrections log, because on a site of this size the dated page is the log.

Updates

Every product is checked for availability monthly. The flagship roundups are refreshed quarterly, specifications are re-verified against current listings quarterly, and all specification sourcing is reviewed twice a year. Manufacturers revise dimensions between production runs, so a figure recorded on a date is exactly that.

Published and last-updated dates appear on every page. Where they differ, the page has been revised since it first went up.

What we will not publish

• Invented prices, ratings, review counts, awards or product claims.
• Any testimonial or customer quote. There are none on this site, because there are none to publish.
• Any claim of hands-on testing, ownership or first-hand use — see the methodology page.
• Credentials the author does not hold, or tenure the site does not have.
• An estimated specification presented as a measured one.
• Fake urgency or scarcity. No “deal ends soon,” no “lowest price,” no countdown.

Who is responsible
