What this site is

Fold & Futon covers one thing: furniture that sleeps a guest in a small space. Sleeper sofas, futons, Murphy beds and daybeds, judged on mattress comfort, fold mechanism and footprint — for studios, dorms, spare rooms and apartments that do not have a spare bedroom.

There are 33 products in the registry and 61 content pages, and every product on every one of them carries the same eleven specification fields: folded footprint, open footprint, clearance in front, doorway minimum, sleep surface, mattress, fold mechanism, weight capacity, assembly, renter-safety and price. Consistency is the point. Competitors publish whichever dimensions a listing happens to foreground; publishing the same fields for every product across the whole site is work none of them has done, and any reader can check it.

Who writes it

Ryder M.. Ryder runs Magoo Media Group and writes everything on Fold & Futon. He started the site after trying to fit a guest bed into a small apartment and finding that almost nobody publishes the one number that decides it: how much floor the thing eats when it is open.

That is the whole claim. It is an origin and a motivation, not a credential. There is no certification behind this site, no industry tenure, no interior design qualification and no test lab — and we are not going to imply otherwise, because four of the ten competitors we analyzed compete on exactly that kind of claim and it is unverifiable in both directions.

What we do not do

We do not physically test these products. We are not a lab and we will not pretend to be one. What we do instead is set out in full on how we choose what to recommend.

We do not print prices. Pricing in this category changes weekly and a stale number is worse than no number, so every price slot reads “check price on Amazon” and links to the current one.

We do not publish ratings or review counts. We have no live rating data, so there is none on the site. The scores you see on product cards are our own editorial rubric, explained on the methodology page, and they are never presented as customer ratings or emitted as structured data.

We do not carry testimonials. There are none, because there are none to publish. A clean page beats an invented one.

We do not cover mainstream bedroom furniture or interior decor. No bed frames for their own sake, no styling content. Just furniture that solves the guest problem in a room that has no space for it.

Who publishes it

Fold & Futon is published by Magoo Media Group, Ryder M.’s own publishing company. The site is theirs; it is not part of a network of sites cross-linking to each other, and the only off-site links here are to the retailers products are sold at and to the publisher’s own hub.

If a figure on this site is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the manufacturer’s current listing, fix it, and re-date the page. That commitment is part of the editorial policy rather than a courtesy — a site whose whole claim is accurate numbers has to be correctable.

There is no phone number and no postal address on this site, because there is not one to give. Fold & Futon is a publisher rather than a shop; we do not sell, ship or service anything.

What we would like to be doing in a year

Buying and measuring the products ourselves. The single biggest credibility gap this site has is that we work from published specifications rather than from a tape measure in a real room, and the honest way to close it is to actually own some of these things and photograph them. When that happens it will be described exactly as what it was, and not before.
